Adriana Millan - Speech and Language Specialist

Chedid

Intro:

Hi my name is Jessica Chedid and I am the Speech and Language Specialist here at Lincoln Elementary School. I graduated from Seton Hall University in 2015 with my Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Prior to working at Lincoln, I worked for four years at a private school for children with special needs. I grew up in North Brunswick and would come to New Brunswick often for many reasons. I feel very close to this city and strive to make a difference in our students' lives.

What do I do?

As a speech-language specialist in a school I work on a variety of communication skills. I work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication in children. I help children who have difficulty producing speech sounds correctly or fluently (e.g., stuttering is a form of disfluency) or have problems with his or her voice or resonance. I also help children who have trouble understanding others (receptive language), or sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings (expressive language). Cognitive-communication deficits include problems organizing thoughts, paying attention, remembering, planning, and/or problem-solving. Overall, I am here to help children communicate effectively.
